China reports first local coronavirus case after 3 days
New Delhi : After a gap of three days, China has reported a local coronavirus case while the nation saw a surge in the imported infections with 45 new cases of Covid-19, health officials said on Sunday.
China's National Health Commission (NHC) said that 46 new confirmed cases were reported on the mainland on Saturday, including one domestic infection transmitted by imported cases in Guangzhou.
The death toll in China rose to 3,261 after six deaths was reported on Saturday. One in mainland and five others are in the Hubei Province.
Interestingly, the epicenter of coronavirus – Wuhan – has not reported any fresh case of Covid 19 in four days, said the health officials.
The total number of confirmed cases in China has reached 81,054, including the death of over 3000 people. More than 72,000 people have been discharged from the hospitals after recovery.
On Saturday, 504 people were discharged from hospital after recovery, while the number of severe cases decreased by 118 to 1,845, it said.
The imported cases included 14 from Shanghai, 13 from Beijing, seven from Guangdong province, four from Fujian province and two from Jiangsu province, while the provinces of Hebei, Zhejiang, Jiangxi, Shandong and Sichuan reported one case each, taking the total number of infections from abroad to 314, the NHC said.
