Father tries to sell daughter for sex, gets 60 years in jail

New Delhi : A father has been sentenced to 60 years in jail for allegedly posting an advertisement on Craigslist to sell his then-4-year-old daughter for sex.

Identified as Andrew James Turley has been convicted of trafficking a child and compelling prostitution of someone under the age of 18. The sentence comes two years after he was arrested by the Houston police officers who saw a Craigslist ad called Play with Daddie's Little Girl.

He used to get clients via email in which he mentioned that the child will be given some sleep medicine before the encounter. He used to charge over $1000 for every client.

James Turley was arrested in November 2015, after an undercover officer showed up like a client. The girl was lying unconscious and naked under a blanket, ABC affiliate KTRK reported.

The child's mother has not been charged as it is believed that she had no idea about what her husband was doing to her daughter.

"This case broke my heart," said Stewanna Miskell, one of the assistant district attorneys who prosecuted the case. "A father is supposed to be a protector, not a predator. Jurors saw the need to keep him out of our community."
