Florida : A 19-year-old student who was expelled over indiscipline behaviour returned to Florida School with a rifle gun, killed at least 17 people and injured several others in the premises.

In an apparent revenge assault incident, the students were seen streaming out from the building with their hands in the air. The police and security services swarmed the area.

The young gunman has been identified as Nikolaus Cruz, Broward County Sheriff Scott Israel said at a news briefing hours later.

U.S. Senator Bill Nelson of Florida told CNN the gunman wore a gas mask, was carrying smoke grenades and set off a fire alarm, prompting students to pour out of their classrooms into the hallways. "There the carnage began," Nelson said.

Florida School incident is the 18th shooting in a US school so far this year, according to gun control group Everytown for Gun Safety.

The Police have reportedly captured the suspect about 1.6 kilometres from the school.

Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump said, "My prayers and condolences to the families of the victims of the terrible Florida shooting. No child, teacher or anyone else should ever feel unsafe in an American school."
