New Delhi : A plane with 303 passengers was grounded in France amid suspicion of human trafficking. After an investigation that lasted for more than 5 days, the plane was allowed to leave the French soil on Monday evening.

On Tuesday, the plane with Indian passengers on board landed in Mumbai, a report by PTI said.

The charter plane for Nicaragua was reportedly grounded by the French authorities at France's Vatry amid suspicion of humans being trafficked from north American nation.

2 people were detained by the authorities, who were later freed after a thorough investigation that found that the people have been flying with their own will. Out of 303 passengers, 276 flew to India on Monday.

Meanwhile, the French authorities are still investigating the matter on the angle of violations of immigration laws. 25 passengers on the plane have also applied for asylum, following which they were transferred to special zone in Paris.

Airbus A340 flight, operated by Romanian charter company Legend Airlines, from UAE to Nicaragua, in central America, was grounded at Vatry airport last Thursday.
