New Delhi : Amid escalating tensions between Israel and Iran, Air India has decided to temporarily suspend flights to Tel Aviv. The flights between Delhi and Tel Aviv will remain suspended till further notice.

Currently, Air India is operating four weekly flights between India and Israel.

Apart from Air India, flight operators like Vistara, IndiGo and others are also avoiding Iranian airspace by opting for an alternative path for their flights to the West.

According to a media report, an IndiGo official was quoted saying that flight operations to Istanbul are being carried out by avoiding Iranian airspace. With this precautionary measure flight operation costs have increased and eventually, ticket prices have also gone up for travel.

Also, due to the longer path, the travel duration has increased to such locations.

On Sunday, India said that it is concerned with the escalating situation between Israel and Iran which is a threat to regional peace and security.

For the unversed, Iran on Saturday launched dozens of drones and missiles on Israel in response to suspected Israeli strike on its consulate in Damascus on April 1.
