Japan, China in race to sell rail network to India

- Japan and China are now racing to enhance World’s 4th largest rail network
- Both countries are preparing themselves to bring high speed rail network
- The Japanese will be pitching their bid to PM Modi next week
- Narendra Modi is set to visit Japan on coming weekend
- Japanese PM Shinzo Abe is expected to make a strong pitch for India to buy the Shinkansen network
- Modi will be landing in Kyoto, best known Shinkansen connection with Tokyo
- China on the other hand wants to sell its trains to India on a much cheaper price
- Chinese president Xi Jinping will arrive for his maiden visit to India in mid-September
- China has the world’s longest high speed train network
- While, Japan gets an added advantage of safety
- Each High-Speed train will cost around Rs 60,000 crore to India
