Kabul : More than 90 casualties have been reported so far in twin blasts at Kabul airport on Thursday evening. Over 145 people were reported injured in the suicide bombing incidents carried out by terrorist outfit Islamic State.

12 US soldiers have also reported martyred in the incident that has shocked the entire evacuation drive at the airport.

On Thursday evening, two back-to-back blasts occurred on different locations of the crowded Kabul airport. The terrorist outfit also released a picture of a suicide bomber that struck the crowded gates of Kabul airport, effectively shutting down the Western airlift of Afghans desperate to flee.

A suicide bomber from the Islamist militant group "managed to reach a large gathering of translators and collaborators with the American army at 'Baran Camp' near Kabul Airport and detonated his explosive belt among them, killing about 72 people and wounding more than 143 others, including Taliban fighters," the outfit said.

Meanwhile the US and allied have asked their citizens to avoid going to Kabul airport till further notice.

It is learned that Islamic State called Taliban a traitor for signing a peace deal with the United States and this is among the reasons why the attack has been conducted over Taliban ruled Afghanistan.

Condemning the attack, Taliban tagged 'Kabul Airport blasts' as the terrorist act. Taliban spokesperson Suhail Shaheen said, "We strongly condemn this gruesome incident and will take every step to bring the culprits to justice."
