Lakhvi release: Tit-for-tat Pakistan summons Indian envoy

New Delhi : Pakistan on Friday issued a summon to Indian Deputy High Commissioner in Islamabad

The Islamabad court credited India’s intervention to Pakistan High Court order to release Mumbai Blast mastermind as unwarranted and immature.

It also mentioned that New Delhi has failed to provide significant evidences that prove Lakhvi guilty in the case.

A tit-for-tat action came hours after Pakistan High Commissioner in New Delhi Abdul Basit was summoned by officiating Foreign Secretary Anil Wadhwa.

Anil Wadhwa strongly opposed the release and said this would cause a significant threat to security which cannot be ignored at any cost.

A senior foreign office official told media that Pakistan wanted to try the accused but India has failed to provide any evidence.

Islamabad also expressed displeasure over the manner Basit has been summoned by Indian Authorities.

The Pakistan side also raised questions over the 2007 Samjahuta Express blast case.

The Islamabad High Court suspended the detention order of Lashkar-e-Toiba operations commander Lakhvi and ordered his immediate release.
