New Delhi : Nobel laureate Malala Yousafzai tied knot in a private ceremony in Birmingham; she revealed the new life event on her social media profile.

Sharing the news on Twitter, she wrote: "Today marks a precious day in my life. Asser and I tied the knot to be partners for life. We celebrated a small nikkah ceremony at home in Birmingham with our families. Please send us your prayers. We are excited to walk together for the journey ahead."

With the social media post, she also shared four pictures from the ceremony that she called a 'precious day' in her life. In the pictures, she can be seen posing with her husband Asser, as well as her parents, Ziauddin Yousafzai and Toor Pekai Yousafzai.



On the occasion, Malala wore a melon-pink outfit adorned with gold embroidery. It must be noted that the nikkah pictures were captured by her friend, Malin Fezehai, who is a photographer and visual journalist.

Malala Yousafzai is known for highlighting the need of women education. She got global recognition after she was shot on head by Taliban in Pakistan while she was raising her voice for girls' education. She has also published a book on the aftermath of the attack with name – 'I am Malala'.
