Kathmandu : Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' joined hands with rival KP Sharma Oli and other smaller parties to be appointed as the new Prime Minister of Nepal on Sunday.

With all efforts, Prachanda claimed the support of 170 parliamentarians from 6 parties and 4 independents in the 275 member House.

In the general elections held last month, there was no clear winner. The Nepali Congress is the single largest party with 89 seats, while CPN-UML and CPN-MC have 78 and 32 seats respectively. Now the President has elected Prachanda as the Prime Minister of Nepal as per Article 76(2) of the Constitution.

This will be the 3rd time when Prachanda will take charge of the office. He will take oath on the Monday.

A news report has claimed that Prachanda and Oli have reached an understanding where they will be leading the government on rotation basis. Oli has agreed to make Prachanda Prime Minister for the first term as per his demand.
