Pakistan launches retaliatory strikes into Iran, nearly nine killed

New Delhi : Pakistan has launched a missile strike into Iran one day after the latter reportedly carried out strikes on former. Nine people have been reportedly killed in Iran in the strikes.

Pakistan has issued a statement in which it claimed that the areas which were targeted are marked as 'terrorist hideouts' in Iran’s south-eastern Sistan-Baluchestan province.

According to a report in Iran’s state tv, three women, two men and four children have been killed in the strikes.

These strikes between Pakistan and Iran come at a time when there is a tension going in Middle East with several overlapping crisis.

For those who are not aware, Israel is fighting the Palestinian Group Hamas in Gaza and exchanging fire with Iran backed Hezbollah in Lebanon, Iran backed groups in Iraq and Syria are targeting US forces and the US and UK have struck the Iran back Houthis in Yemen.

Thursday saw the confirmation of strikes by Pakistan's foreign ministry, as reported by Iranian media, occurring in the vicinity of the city of Saravan. The ministry stated that it took action based on "credible intelligence of imminent large-scale terrorist activities," resulting in the elimination of a number of "terrorists." Furthermore, the ministry emphasized its full respect for Iran's "sovereignty and territorial integrity."
