Pakistan Shrine Blast: 5 killed, 24 injured in the attack

Lahore : At least five people, including three police personnel killed and 24 people have been injured in a bomb blast outside a Sufi shrine in Pakistan's Lahore on Wednesday.

The blast has been reported near the Data Darbar and is believed to have targeted the security personnel guarding the shrine. In the initial investigation, it has been learned that the police vehicle was the prime target of the explosion. 

The nature of the explosion is yet to be revealed.

As reported by the local media, the blast took off near Gate No 2 of Data Darbar in Punjab province.

Three police officials died in the blast, a security guard and a resident were also among the dead, Deputy Inspector General Operations Lahore Ashfaq Ahmad Khan was quoted as saying by the Geo News.

For now, the entry inside the shrine has been banned and the nearby area has been cordoned off.
