Petrol stock left only for a day, next few months are difficult: Sri Lanka PM
New Delhi : Sri Lanka's new Prime Minister on Monday said that the island nation is left with only one day of petrol and with this the next few months are going to be hard for the nation.
Ranil Wickremesinghe, who was recently appointed as the Prime Minister of Sri Lanka, addressed the nation and said that they need urgent USD 75 million in foreign reserve to complete the basic needs of the nation.
"Currently, we are left with petrol stock sufficient for one day only, the next couple of months will be difficult for us," said PM Ranil in his address.
"The nation must prepare for some sacrifices and face the situation," he added.
Two shipments of petrol and two of diesel using an Indian credit line could provide relief in the next few days, he added, but the country is also facing a shortage of 14 essential medicines.
