London : King Charles III has officially become the new monarch for Britain after the death of his mother Queen Elizabeth II. In a public address to the nation, he vowed lifelong services to the UK.

"In 1947 on her 21st birthday, she (Queen Elizabeth II) pledged in a broadcast from Cape Town to Commonwealth to devote her life to service of her people. It was more than a promise, it was a profound personal commitment that defined her whole life," King Charles III said in his address to Britain.

In his address he said "Thank You" to his mother for her services and also vowed to give lifelong services to the UK.

This was his first public speech since the demise of the Queen.
