Shiv Sena gives slogan of 'Jai Dilli' to People of Delhi
New Delhi : Saluting Shiv Sena Chief Eknath Shinde and his welfare schemes for unorganized sectors by raising an emotional slogan ‘Mumbai Se Aaya Mera Dost, Hamare Mukhya Mantri’ Delhi’s Transport Sector Workers, Auto Drivers, Sanitation Employees, and Street Hawkers’ and their associations today announced their support to Shiv Sena. Unveiling Delhi Action Plan, newly appointed Delhi President Col Devinder Sehrawat, senior Shiv Sena leaders Shri Anandrao Adsul, Shri Anshumman Joshi, and National Secretary Capt Abhijeet Adsul assured the unorganized sectors’ people that the party would act as a facilitator for their social welfare and financial support. Shiv Sena’s Delhi Action Plan includes the launch of a massive campaign against the Delhi Government’s apathy towards unorganized sectors’ workers, especially transport, Safai Karamcharis, farmers, food vendors, and hawkers.
Shiv Sena also expressed heartfelt condolences to the family of the victims of Odisha train accident.
Shiv Sena National Secretary gave the slogan of ‘Jai Dilli’ to the people of Delhi and urged them to greet everyone with this. The party also announced a massive Protest (Dharna and Gherauv) at Delhi Secretariat on June 30.
Unveiling the Delhi Action Plan at a Press Conference here, newly appointed Shiv Sena Delhi Unit President Col Devinder Sehrawat said, “Autorickshaw unions including Delhi Auto Rickshaw Sangh and Chaalak Shakti have accelerated their support to the party for taking up the issue of Autorickshaw's permit black marketing. The blackmarket component itself is more than Rs. 4 lakhs. We have promised them to look into other issues such as auto stands, taxi stands, aggregator schemes, and a dozen other issues. It has also promised to all unorganized sector workers that Shiv Sena will facilitate the advancing of loans and other benefits at competitive rates. The icing on the cake is the formation of a Driver Welfare Board, a long-standing demand of autorickshaw drivers.”
This move by the party is likely to be keenly watched by AAP which is largely considered to be the party that initially was propped up by the support of the autorickshaw drivers. The event witnessed the participation of several associations’ representatives including Shri Rajendra Soni, General Secretary, Delhi Auto Rickshaw Sangh, Shri Ravi Oswal, and Delhi Safai Karamchari Union, Delhi Transport Workers Union, among others. They shared the main pain points and highlighted the apathy of the Delhi Government toward the unorganized sectors.
Ravi Oswal highlighted the pain points of Safai Karamchari and said that even after several decades of service, a large number of r karamcharis are still temporary and have not been given permanent jobs. Jobs are not given on compassionate ground to the deceased worker of the department. Oswal said that the Union would submit a memorandum to the government soon and urged Shiv Sena to support them.
The Auto Rickshaw Sangh highlighted several pressing issues, including financing, licensing, and strict regulations imposed by the Kejriwal Government, which have adversely affected the livelihoods of auto-rickshaw drivers. While Transport Sector’s representatives flagged the delayed pension issue. Safai Karamchari Union criticized the ad-hoc and outsourcing policies (Giving away streets to private companies for safai) of the government.
“Maharashtra’s good governance is also manifested in its pro-people and inclusive growth schemes. Recently our Hon’ble Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has constituted a Welfare Board for auto and taxi drivers, and more than 3 crore workers in the unorganized sector. Within two months of the Budgetary Announcement, he implemented welfare schemes. Another landmark scheme is premium-free Crop Insurance, with just Rs 1 registration feet, to farmers which would benefit 10 lakh farmers in Maharashtra,” said Shri Anandrao Adsul, senior national leader, Shiv Sena.
“In Delhi, Shiv Sena would act as a facilitator for setting up social security and welfare Boards for these organized sectors’ people. Crop insurance, on the pattern of Maharashtra, would benefit farmers of outer Delhi who are exposed to natural calamities frequently,” said Anshumman Joshi, Senior Leader of Shiv Sena.
The party plans to a campaign to press on the Delhi Government to form Delhi State Auto-Rickshaw and Taxi Owners’ Welfare Board and similar welfare schemes for other unorganized sectors.
“Shiv Sena leaders and workers would educate unorganized sector people to avail of the ‘Mudra’ loan and other financial support schemes of the Centre. There are several micro-credit Central schemes such as PM’s Street Vendor's Atma Nirbhar Nidhi (SVANidhi) Scheme. It can empower our street vendors with Rs 10,000 loan and if they repay this the credit amount keeps on doubling,” added Anshumman Joshi.
Showing solidarity and support Capt Abhijeet Adsul said, “There is no incentive to these unorganized sector workers. There are no schemes to upscale their skills and there is not a single social security cover for them. Our party Chief has assured our unwavering support in resolving the issues.”
With the backing of Shiv Sena, the unorganized sector associations strive to bring about tangible improvements and alleviate the challenges faced by them in Delhi.
