Sundar Pichai receives Padma Bhushan, speak about Indianness
San Francisco : "India is a part of me and it goes with me wherever I go," said Sundar Pichai while receiving the prestigious Padma Bhushan award. He has been awarded Padma Bhushan for 2022 in the Trade and Industry category.
The award was presented to him by an Indian envoy to the US in the presence of his close family members in San Francisco on Friday.
"I am deeply grateful to the Indian government and the people of India for this immense honour. It is incredibly meaningful to be honoured in this way by the country that shaped me," 50-year-old Pichai said while accepting the award from India’s Ambassador to the US, Taranjit Singh Sandhu.
He also spoke about the technological advancement in India and recalled Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of technology that combines 3S which are Simplicity, Speed and Service.
Mr Pichai also mentioned that innovations created India are benefiting people all across the world from digital payments to voice technology. "There are a lot of technologies opportunities in India," said Sundar Pichai.
Sundar Pichai is the CEO of Google and Alphabet. He has been awarded Padma Bhushan for his technological contribution for the development of nation and the world.
