Suspicious packages delivered at 10 embassies in Australia

New Delhi : Suspicious packages have been delivered at 10 international consulates and embassies in Canberra and Melbourne, the Australian Federal Police claimed on Wednesday. Indian embassy is also among the ones who received the package.

The United Kingdom Consulate, located on Collins Street, along with the Korean Consulate (St Kilda Road), German Consulate (Queen Street), Italian Consulate (St Kilda Road), Swiss Consulate (Ashwood), Greek Consulate (Albert Road) and the Indonesian Consulate (Queens Road) are also believed to have been affected.

“Police and emergency services have responded to suspicious packages to embassies and consulates in ACT and VIC today. The packages are being examined by attending emergency services. The circumstances are being investigated,” the department tweeted. 

A panic situation has covered the area as the authorities deployed firefighters and ambulances. The Australian Federal Police is being assisted by the Metropolitan Fire Brigade (MFB) at embassies across Melbourne.

Two days back, suspicious white powder was found in the Argentinian Consulate in Sydney.
