The United States has most number of Coronavirus cases, China on second spot

Washington : The United States now has the most number of Coronavirus cases in the world, overtaking China where the Covid-19 pandemic had started in December last year.

By Thursday evening, the United States had 83,507 positive cases, nearly 2,000 more than the number of cases in China. However, the deaths remain highest in Italy, Spain and China.

Experts believe that the number of cases will continue to rise in the United States, unlike in China, because of aggressive testing, a trend that has been seen in New York state, which leads all US states in reported cases and fatalities.

Two days back, the World Health Organization (WHO) had said that the US is likely to become the new epicenter of the global crisis.

Meanwhile, Coronavirus cases have crossed the 500,000 mark, doubling in a matter of just one week as the Covid-19 pandemic accelerated.

The total number of global cases was 532,000 at 8:30 am (IST) on March 27 (Friday). The first case of coronavirus was registered in Wuhan Province of China in December last year. Since then it has spread to over 192 countries, killing over 24,000 people. Roughly 120,000 people have recovered from Covid-19.

It is to be noted that the coronavirus cases rose from zero to 250,000 in 4 months and then registered another 250,000 in just a week, showing how gradually it can spread and make things disastrous.
