The US records highest number of coronavirus deaths as toll crosses 20,000-mark

Washington : In an ill-fated development, the United States has recorded the highest number of coronavirus deaths worldwide.

The total number of fatalities due to COVID-19 has gone past the 20,000-mark on Saturday. The total number of confirmed coronavirus cases in the US stands at 519,453, according to the Baltimore-based school's count.

Italy, the hardest-hit country in Europe with a population a fifth the size of the US, was also approaching the grim milestone with 19,468 declared virus fatalities.

Worldwide 1.7 million people have been tested positive to the virus and around 108K have been reported dead.
