US Visa Policy for Pakistan changed: Fees, duration revised

Islamabad : The United States of America has changed its VISA policy for Pakistan amid soaring tensions with India, said a TV report.

An official notification over the revision of the US VISA policy has been issued by the US Consulate in Islamabad on Tuesday.

According to a report by Geo TV, while work and missionary visas have been reduced from five years to one year, the visa limit for journalists has been reduced from five years to three months.

However, the notification assured a five-year VISA term for trade, tourism and students.

The TV channel mentioned that according to diplomatic sources, the policies have been revised as per rules of the Pakistani Embassy in Washington. Pakistan also issues visas for three months to journalists.

Government officials will be issued VISAs with a duration based on their nature of work.

Against the previous visa fees of $160, the new fee applicable, under revision from January 21, will be $192.
