Video: Saurya Airlines plane crashes in Nepal, 18 dead, pilot rescued

Kathmandu : In a fatal plane accident in Nepal, 18 people lost their lives after a flight of Saurya Airlines skid off the runway of the Tribhuvan International Airport at Kathmandu.

According to media reports, the plane was carrying two crew members and 17 technicians to Pokhra City for maintenance checks. Meanwhile, pilot survived the crash; Manish Shankya was rescued and taken to the nearby hospital for treatment as he received head injuries.

The rescue operation was carried out by Nepal Army.

According to the eyewitnesses present at the crash site, the plane apparently flipped after its wing tip struck the ground as it was taking off from the runway. The plane immediately caught fire and was plunged into a gorge on the eastern side of the runway.
