Maruti Suzuki Alto becomes the only car to sell 5 million units in India

New Delhi : There is no denying to the fact that Maruti Suzuki is the king of Indian cars when it comes to sales figures. Most people in India prefer to stick with it for its reliable engine, peace of mind operations and easy maintenance. But, do you which is that one car that has achieved the landmark figure of 5 million sales units?

We are talking about the hatchback car which was launched back in 2000 and has been the market leader since then in terms of sales. According to the latest data, the car has clocked sales of nearly 5.06 million units till now. And, we are talking here about Maruti Suzuki Alto.

This is one record that would be very difficult to be broken. We say this because the second best-selling car is Hyundai i10, which has been loved by 3.3 million owners in the country.

For those who are unaware, it must be noted that Maruti Suzuki Alto remained the top-selling  car in India for more than 17 years from 2000-2022.

Talking about the current market options, Maruti Suzuki is selling the Alto K10 variant in the market after new BS6 norms came to effect on April 1, 2023.

The Maruti Suzuki Alto K10 price starts at Rs 3.99 lakh and goes up to Rs 5.96 lakh (ex-showroom). It rivals the Renault Kwid and the Maruti Suzuki S-Presso.
