New Delhi : Former Indian cricketer Rahul Dravid has been heading Team India's as head coach since November 2021. He was given an extension after the conclusion of 2023 ODI World Cup. But, it looks like, he will not be given an extension this time as BCCI secretary, Jay Shah, confirmed that an advertisement to hire a new head coach will be released soon.

For those who are unaware, Rahul Dravid’s current contract with BCCI as head coach for will end on June 2024, when Team India will be heading for T20 World Cup campaign.

According to a media report, the BCCI secretary has confirmed that Rahul Dravid will not be given an automatic extension on the contract. Instead, he can apply for a new one.

"Rahul's tenure is only up to June. So if he wants to apply, he is free to do so," the BCCI secretary told Cricbuzzand also refused to rule out the possibility of hiring a foreign coach.

Meanwhile, Jay Shah cleared that it is not certain that the new coach will be an Indian or a foreigner. It will be up to CAC to decide as it is a global body decision. He also ruled out possibility to hire different coaches for different formats of the game.
