New Delhi : Aam Aadmi Party has called to 'gherao' Prime Minister Narendra Modi's residence in Delhi after the arrest of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in the excise policy scam case.

To express solidarity with CM Arvind Kejriwal, leaders from Aam Aadmi Party had changed their profile picture on social media platforms to Mr Kejriwal standing behind the bars.

Meanwhile, the leaders have been protesting against the arrest in several areas by burning effigies and raising slogans.

To ensure safety of Prime Minister's house, Delhi Police has beefed up security in and around the region. Meanwhile, security has also been increased in the sensitive regions.

"Section 144 (of the CrPC) is already imposed around the prime minister’s residence and no one will be allowed to protest," the Delhi Police officer said.

SOCIAL MEDIA CAMPAIGN

Aam Aadmi Party leaders have initiated a social media campaign against the arrest of Delhi CM by changing their profile pictures on social media. In the new picture, CM Arvind Kejriwal can be seen standing behind the bars and it has a slogan that says, CM Arvind Kejriwal is the biggest fear of PM Narendra Modi.

AAP minister Atishi said that since Kejriwal was the only leader who could challenge the prime minister, the ED arrested him without any evidence right after the schedule of the Lok Sabha elections being announced. She also claimed that the probe agency could not produce any evidence against the Delhi CM despite its two-year-long probe into the alleged excise policy scam.
