New Delhi : To control the rising air pollution, authorities in Delhi have issued fresh restrictions on construction work in demolition activities.

The Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) directed the authorities in Delhi-NCR to ban all non-essential construction work in the region under Stage 3 of Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP).

The average air quality index in Delhi was at around 407 at 4:00 PM on Sunday.

The AQI above 401 is considered severe as per the index. The pollution level in Delhi had entered severe category after November 4 when the AQI was recorded at 447.

On November 14, the authorities had revoked curbs on construction activities as the AQI had reduced. But now, as the air pollution has re-entered into severe category, the curves have been reimposed.
