New Delhi : Team India kicked off the ICC Women T20 World Cup in style as they thrashed their arch-rivals Pakistan by a stunning 7-wicket victory in the first game of the tournament. Speaking about it, Jemimah, who stared in the game, said that the victory inspiration came from Virat Kohli's knock at MCG against Pakistan.

Jemimah Rodrigues scored an unbeaten 53 runs to guide India to victory with one over in spare. She claimed that Virat Kohli’s unbeaten 82 run knock at MCG turned out to be an inspiration for her to take the Indian side to the victory.

"India vs Pakistan matches are always a little more special than other matches," she said. "Growing up we have seen these matches and Virat Kohli's special match at MCG against Pakistan was truly inspirational.

"Before going on the field, we discussed that match and we’re looking forward to get our first win in the tournament. We decided to play like we used to play and give our full efforts to win the game," she mentioned during a presser after the match.

Jemima Rodrigues came to play for India when she was struggling from her form; in the last 10 outing, she has managed to score only once above 30 runs. But on Sunday, she was in her complete form and score brilliant runs for India.

Talking about it to the press, she mentioned that the innings means a lot for her.

"As a batsman, when you are not scoring runs, it is very hard for you to control, but I did my part. I gave more time to the practice on nets, became more regular at gym and the efforts paid out in the first game.

"The innings was very important for me and it came at a very special time," she said.

The Indian side thrashed Pakistan by 7 wickets in the game to score their first victory in the tournament.
