Delhi : On October 1, 2022, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi introduced 5G services for the first time. Only Bharti Airtel and Reliance Jio are the two telecom providers in the nation now providing 5G networks.

5G services were initially only made available in a few locations, such as Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Varanasi, Chandigarh, and Delhi. The services are gradually being extended to other regions of the nation. Jio recently announced the launch of its 5G service in 72 places, including Gwalior, Jabalpur, Ludhiana, and Siliguri.

"We are excited to announce the expansion of Jio True 5G to four more cities. The most adored technology brand and the operator of choice for customers in Madhya Pradesh, West Bengal, and Punjab, respectively, Jio's debut is evidence of the company's ongoing dedication to the residents of these states. …. We appreciate the State Governments' ongoing assistance in our efforts to digitise these areas, as well as the administration teams who support them. The Jio True 5G launch confirms Jio's dedication and offers cutting-edge technological support for the upcoming 17th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas and Invest MP - Global Investor Summit being hosted in Indore in January 2023.
