Tokyo : Revenue from alcohol sale is one of the key ways any government make maximum money; with coronavirus striking the world several economies crashed and now looking for ways to revive and survive. Japan has found a tactic with which the nation is aiming to get strong again financially. The Japanese government has asked youth to promote alcohol consumption for the same reason.

The National Tax Agency (NTA) recently announced a national business contest called "Sake Viva!" in which the younger population has been given a task to make a strategy to promote alcohol consumption. Under the scheme, the youth has been asked to submit business ideas which promote demand for Japanese alcoholic drinks, including sake, shochu, awamori, beer, whisky and wine.

The NTA has called it a revival plan for liquor industry that may solve many financial problems for the nation.

The campaign “Sake Viva!” invites people aged between 20 and 39 to submit innovative ideas for reviving the appeal of alcoholic beverages.

According to a media report, there is no entry fee to enroll for the competition. The final ideas from the competition will be selected on September 27. The results of this unique project are expected to be announced on November 10 in Tokyo.

According to NTA, data shows that Japanese were drinking less in 2020, after the country was hit by the Covid-19 pandemic as compared to the year 1995. In 1995, people were consuming 100 litres (22 gallons) of alcohol and now, alcohol drinking is down to 75 litres (16 gallons).
