Delhi : Orxa Energy an e-bike startup focused on electric mobility located in Bengaluru has announced the arrival of its Mantis performance electric motorbike Orxa Mantis priced at ₹3.60 lakh (ex-showroom, Bengaluru). Exclusively launchew Orxa Mantis comes with a 1.3 kW charger. This new mid-segment naked electric motorbike is set to compete with the Ultraviolette F77 when it goes on market. The latest Mantis, according to Orxa, is the lightest bike produced in India for its class. Designed entirely in-house, the new model has a curb weight of 182 kg and a 0-100 kmph time of 8.9 seconds. The officials claims that while 20–60 kmph can be reached in 6.2 seconds, acceleration from 0–20 kmph has been reduced to 2.7 seconds in consideration of city traffic. A PMS liquid-cooled electric motor, weighing just 11.5 kg, provides the power. It is rated at 20.5 kW (27.4 bhp) and 93 Nm of peak torque, with a maximum speed of 135 kmph.
"Our journey began in 2015, and we translated our vision into the first prototype of what would ultimately become the Mantis," Orxa Energies co-founder Dr. Prajwal Sabnis stated during the unveiling.
For further lightness, the Orxa Mantis boasts the first-ever entirely cast aerospace-grade all-aluminum chassis for a two-wheeler in India. With only one charge, the 8.9 kWh battery pack powering the e-bike is said to have a 221 km (IDC) range. In addition, the battery has an IP67 rating and is equipped with dual-redundant thermal management and an intelligent BMS. The 5-inch TFT screen and Ride-by-Wire are features of the electric performance model. There is 180 millimeters of ground clearance.
The Mantis was developed using a lot of Orxa's acquired knowledge from the aerospace and defense industries. The bike debuted in 2016 as a concept known as the "Trike." Over time, it underwent several architecture experiments, and by 2019, it had used honeycomb composite materials to minimize weight.
To guarantee a smooth ownership experience, Orxa has carefully chosen its partners. For its after-sales services, the business has teamed up with Spare It, and Nunam will handle end-of-life battery buyback services. Customers will have a 40% cost advantage over when they sell the bike, according to the business. Additionally, Mantis owners will be able to utilize Bolt's fast-charging stations thanks to Orxa's cooperation with the latter.
