New Delhi : Maruti Suzuki has launched its Wagon R 2022 new model with dual-tone as its main update, apparently to give the car more of a sporty stance, which definitely is the core of the family hatchback.

The dual-tone colour option has been limited for the top model of the car ZXI+, which comes at an approximate on-road price of Rs 8 lakh in Delhi.

The car has remained a preferred choice for budget buyers who look for low maintenance and good fuel efficiency; this remains the key projection this time too if we forget the dual-tone colour option for some time.

The car's fuel efficiency has been updated to 25.19kmpl in petrol (VXI AGS) 1.0 liter engine and CNG gives a mileage of 34.05 km/kg. The 1.2-litre engine claims to deliver 24.43kmpl. But then how sporty is the budget buyer to shell out 8 lakh rupees for dual-tone. The answer is very few.

With that said, the dual-tone version looks more like an offering company had to make just because they wanted to call the car all-new.

There is no major update in the new Wagon R as compared to the outgoing version of the car.

Talking more about Rs 8 lakh figure, the Wagon R gets competition from its own siblings like Baleno, Swift and Ignis. All these look more sporty and a level up from Wagon R. Then other carmakers like Hyundai and Tata have Grandi10 Nios and Altroz as their offerings to give Wagon R a nightmare.

It looks hard for the company to set a niche for Wagon R with a dual-tone touch.
