Air India suspends pilot

Sydney : Air India suspended one of its pilots for allegedly shoplifting from a duty-free shop at the Sydney airport.

The incident has been reported on Saturday after an Australian Regional Manager filed a complaint of stealing against the pilot.

An Air India spokesperson confirmed the news to agency ANI and said that the captain, working as a regional director, allegedly picked up a wallet from a duty-free shop in Sydney.

An enquiry in the matter has begun with the airlines putting the pilot into suspension without pay.

As per the suspension letter, the pilot has been barred from entering the premises of Air India Limited without prior permission from the Airlines. The company has also asked him to surrender his identity card.

"You will not be eligible to any wages except the subsistence allowance as per rules with immediate effect," the suspension letter said.
