Travelling in 48 more trains become costly, Railway imposes 'superfast' levy

New Delhi : According to a new time table for trains effective from November 1, 48 trains have been upgraded from mail/express to "superfast" category by increasing their average speed by mere five kms per hour from 50 kms per hour.

However, upgradation does not assure timely running of these trains. Interestingly, the new tax has been imposed on these trains when most of the north India bound trains will run late due to difficult weather condition.

No facilities have been added to these trains while passengers will pay Rs. 30 more for Sleeper, Rs. 45 for Second and Third AC and Rs. 75 for First AC class as superfast charges.

With the new addition of 48 trains, the total number of superfast trains in the country has risen to 1,072.
