<b>Assembly Elections 2014:</b> Haryana, Maharashtra cast vote to decide fate of candidates

  • On Wednesday, eligible voters from both Haryana and Maharashtra casted their vote to decide the fate of contesting candidates
  • Long queues of voters amid high security were seen at various poll booths since morning
  • Voting was exercised for the 288 assembly seats in Maharashtra and 90 seats in Haryana
  • More than 76% voters in Haryana and 64% voters in Maharashtra casted their vote
  • This is the highest ever turn out in Haryana for voting
  • Five parties - Congress, Nationalist Congress Party, Bharatiya Janata Party, Shiv Sena and Maharashtra Navnirman Sena – are trying their luck to conquer 288-member house
  • For this a total of 4,119 candidates are trying their hands
  • Violence was also registered at one or two poll booths after party supporters clashed with each other.
  • As per exit polls by several TV channels, PM Modi’s BJP is touted to make a sweep once again and form government in majority
  • Final results will come on October 19, 2014.
