BKS Iyengar, who took yoga to the world, passes away

  • BKS Iyengar on Wednesday passed away due to kidney failure at the age of 95
  • He was the legendary guru who sparked a global yoga craze and reintroduced it to generations of Indians
  • He started learning yoga at an early age of 15
  • At the age of 18 he moved to Pune
  • In Pune he developed his own styles of yoga to tackle multiple diseases like Typhoid and TB
  • Iyengar Yoga studios has its centres in more than 72 countaries
  • His book `Light on Yoga' is considered the bible of yoga
  • Even in his 90s he could do 30 minute head stand
  • He always used to tell everyone “Live happily and die majestically“
  • The world will now miss him and his exceptional yoga art
  • May his soul Rest in Peace (RIP).
