New Delhi : A day after Congress chief Sonia Gandhi asked five state chiefs to tender their resignations after poor performance of the party in recently concluded assembly elections, Punjab chief Navjot Singh Sidhu, Uttar Pradesh chief Ajay Lallu and Uttarakhand chief Ganesh Godiyal submitted their papers.

Taking moral responsibility of poll debacle in Uttar Pradesh, Ajay Kumar tweeted his resignation letter.

Uttarakhand Congress chief Ganesh Godiyal also took responsibility of the poll debacle and resigned.

Similarly, Punjab Congress chief Navjot Singh Sidhu also resigned from his post and tweeted the letter.

The Congress chiefs of Manipur and Goa are yet to submit their resignations.

There were reports that Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi will also resign from the party posts; but later in a CWC meet, the leaders showed faith in Sonia Gandhi's leadership and asked her to continue as party chief.
