New Delhi : The evacuation process from Ukraine is in its last phase; more than 23,000 Indians have been safely brough back to India. Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday acknowledged the efforts of Indian community organizations, civil society and volunteer groups involved in Operation Ganga.

While praising the efforts, PM Modi said that his government is committed towards the well being of Indians in distressed abroad locations. 

PM Modi tweeted: "Interacted with Indian community organizations, civil society and volunteer groups involved in @opganga. Collective efforts ensured the safe return of about 23,000 Indians from Ukraine. We remain committed to ensure the safety and well-being of Indians in distress abroad."



The government had evacuated stranded Indians in Ukraine via neighbouring nations after the air space for commercial flights in Ukraine was shut.
