Panneerselvam visits oil spill at Ennore port

Chennai : Tamil Nadu Chief Minister O Panneerselvam on Sunday visited the oil spill affected Ennore and took stock of the clean-up operations.

After taking stock he claimed that 90 per cent of the cleaning work has been done and it will be restored completely in a day or two. Mr Chief Minister also announced compensation for the fishermen who are affected because of this.

“The sludge removal work will be completed in a day or two,” he said, adding, over 5,700 persons were involved in the cleaning operations.

Two shipping vessels on January 28th had collided outside the Kamarajar Port at Ennore, resulting in massive oil spill.
