Kashmiri politicians, civil society bid farewell to Vohra

Srinagar : A delegation of political leaders including former Chief Ministers Farooq Abdullah and Mehbooba Mufti on Friday bid farewell to former Governor N.N. Vohra, who served for 10 years in the post in Jammu and Kashmir.

The leaders called on Vohra at the Raj Bhavan here.

The delegation included senior members and former Ministers representing the National Conference, Peoples Democratic party and Congress besides prominent representatives of the Sikh community and leaders of business, trade and travel groups.

Abdullah thanked Vohra for his "able guidance, sage advice and sincere service" to the troubled state.

Abdullah's sentiments were supported by Mehbooba Mufti, who thanked Vohra for guiding her particularly after her father passed away.

Other speakers also expressed appreciation of the "constructive and pro-people role" played by Vohra, particularly over the way he handled various sensitive issues.
