Kolkata Keralities raise funds, relief

Kolkata : Keralities living here are trying to raise funds and other relief materials to help people in flood-hit Kerala, a member of a city-based Malayali association said on Monday.

"We are mainly trying to raise cash. It is the prior requirement of the people who have lost almost everything. They will need money for all other needs," said N. Gopi, Secretary, Calcutta Malayalee Samajam.

Members of various Malayali associations have started a drive to collect the maximum amount of funds and essential items to help the victims of the Kerala flood fury.

"We are trying to send fresh materials like towels, bedsheets and blankets that can be easily given to anybody in need," he said.
