Minsk Half Marathon brings together all types of athletes in colorful race

Minsk (Belarus) : The streets of the Belarusian capital were filled on Sunday with all types of athletes, some serious and some out for fun, participating in the Minsk Half Marathon.

While many participants were in standard active wear, others chose to spice things up with pets and costumes, including workout wear straight out of the '80s, a wedding dress and even a hospital gown complete with a full head-bandage, reports Efe news.

Para athletes also took part in the race, and an efe-epa photojournalist on the sidelines documented both wheelchair users and recumbent hand-cyclists.

In the run-up to the race's start, participants were entertained at the starting line by a bear mascot, before setting off on the half marathon under a flurry of confetti while a marching band in bright red uniforms cheered runners on.
