New Delhi : In an attempt to further decrease the demand of tobacco in the market, the authorities have decided to print two new warnings on the cigarette and tobacco products. As per the recently amended Cigarettes and other Tobacco Products (Packaging and Labelling) Rules, 2008, new warnings and images will be displayed on tobacco products’ packaging from 1 December.

The two warnings which will be printed on the boxes are – "Tobacco causes painful death" and "Tobacco users die young".

The packs will also have a toll-free helpline, Quit Today Call Today (1800-11-2356), in white font on a black background.

According to data, 1.3 million people die every year due to consumption of tobacco.
