New Delhi : Winter is going to get chiller in coming days in North India and the IMD has issued an advisory for people to become more cautious to ensure good health.

In its latest information, IMD announced severe cold wave in Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and northern Rajasthan from December 28, resulting in an increase in various illnesses like flu, running nose or nosebleed.

"Don't drink alcohol. It reduces your body temperature," the advisory read.

"Get indoors. Eat vitamin-C-rich fruits and moisturize your skin regularly to counter the effects of severe cold," it said.

Meanwhile, it has also been told that on Sunday and Monday, the mercury will rise a little but this will be for a short span of time. The IMD also mentioned that the Western disturbances will lead to scattered snowfall in several areas of Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand.

Due to cold winds, the temperature in north India will stay between 3 to 5 degrees.
