Partial Solar Eclipse on February 15; All you need to know about other Eclipses coming up in 2018

New Delhi : The first Solar Eclipse or Surya Grahan of 2018 will take place on Feb. 15, it will be visible only from parts of Antarctica, the Atlantic Ocean and southern South America. A solar eclipse occurs when the Moon passes between Earth and the Sun, thereby totally or partly obscuring the image of the Sun for a viewer on Earth. A partial solar eclipse occurs in the polar regions of the Earth when the center of the Moon's shadow misses the Earth.

Solar Eclipse or Surya Grahan 2018 Date and Timing

1. The second partial eclipse of 2018 will take place on July 13 and will be visible primarily over the ocean between Australia and Antarctica. Some in Tasmania and at a station on the Antarctic coast will get a glimpse of the eclipse.

2. The third solar eclipse of the year will take place on Aug. 11 and will swing over the North Pole. It will be visible from northern Europe, northern Asia and parts of eastern Asia. This will be the last eclipse of the year; the next one will be a total lunar eclipse on Jan. 21, 2019, EclipseWise reports.

Lunar Eclipse or Chandra Ghrahan 2018 Date and timing

The second total lunar eclipse of 2018 is coming in July 27, but this time most Americans won’t get a good look at it, as it will arrive during the daylight hours over the continent. Those across Europe, Africa, Asia and Australia will get a proper view of the event.
