Mary Kom first woman boxer with six championship gold medals

New Delhi : Indian woman boxer MC Mary Com on Saturday scripted history as she defeated Ukraine's Hanna Okhota 5-0 in the 48kg light flyweight final to clinch an unprecedented sixth gold medal at the Women's World Championships at the KD Jadhav Indoor Stadium in New Delhi.

With this she has become the first woman boxer to win six gold medals in World Boxing Championship. Mary Kom had won gold in 2002, 2005, 2006, 2008 and 2010 editions of the Women's World Boxing Championship and was tied at five gold medals with Katie Taylor of Ireland.

Including her silver medal from 2001 game, she has a total of seven medals to her name.

Mary Kom had defeated North Korea's Kim Hyang Mi in semi-finals to enter the final of the championships.
