New Delhi : The Australian cricketer Pat Cummins on Friday confirmed the tragic death of his mother, Maria. He had left Border Gavaskar Trophy after the second Test match of the series to tend to his ailing mother. Now, the Australian cricketer took the field wearing black arm band to pay homage to Cummins' mother. She was suffering from breast cancer for past few months.

“We are deeply saddened at the passing of Maria Cummins overnight. On behalf of Australian Cricket, we extend our heartfelt condolences to Pat, the Cummins family and their friends. The Australian Men's team will today wear black armbands as a mark of respect,” a tweet from Cricket Australia read.

Australia’s head coach Andrew McDonald informed players about the sad demise of Pat Cummins mother ahead of Friday's game in Ahmedabad.

The 4th and the final Test of the Border Gavaskar Trophy between India and Australia is being played in Ahmedabad. Australia have already qualified for the final of world Test Championship with a win in the Indore test last week. While Team India is looking for a victory to make it to the finals.

On the first day of the 4th Test match, Australian Prime Minister and Indian Prime Minister had come to meet the players and greet the audiences in the Narendra Modi stadium.
