First Test: India scores record win against West Indies

New Delhi : Jasprit Bumrah's five-wicket haul for mere seven runs shattered West Indies Team in the second innings of the first Test match. They managed to score only 100 runs, handing over India its record win of 318 runs.

It is India's fourth-biggest Test win but biggest in away Tests as winning by 336 runs against South Africa in Delhi in 2015-16 remains their best ever. The result gave Virat Kohli the joint-most number of victories as India captain, tying for 27 wins with MS Dhoni.

In the process, Bumrah became the first bowler from Asia to take five-wicket hauls in Australia, England, South Africa and the West Indies.

With the victory, India is now leading the series 1-0; they also received 60 points in their inaugural World Test Championship match.

Bumrah's spell was built around hitting the stumps, specifically the off stump, no matter if the batsman was right or left-handed. He did this four times, all against West Indies' recognised batsmen, and on the back of fast, moving deliveries.

Playing his 11th Test, he also became the fastest pacer to take 50 Test wickets.
