New Delhi : And the news is now confirmed, man behind India’s great opening acts Virendra Sehwag has now announced his retirement from all forms of International cricket.

Sehwag chose his 37th birthday as the best time to announce his retirement

“I have always done what I felt was right and not what conformists thought to be right. God has been kind and I have done what I wanted to do — on the field and in my life. And I had decided some time back that I will retire on my 37th birthday. So today, while I spend my day with my family, I hereby announce my retirement from all forms of international cricket and from the Indian Premier League,” Sehwag said in a statement.

- Made ODI debut against Pakistan in 1999 as an all-rounder batting at No. 7
- Scored maiden ODI century off 69 balls against New Zealand in 2001
- Scored a century on Test debut against South Africa in 2001
- In 2008, Sehwag scored the quickest triple-hundred in a Test match, taking 278 deliveries against South Africa in Chennai
- He was a member of India’s victorious squads in the 2007 World
- Twenty20 and the 2011 World Cup
- His last ODI was in January 2013, against Pakistan and his last Test was in March, the same year, against Australia
