7.4 magnitude earthquake hits Taiwan, several people feared trapped under debris

New Delhi : A major 7.4 magnitude earthquake struck Taiwan on Wednesday morning, leading to collapse of many buildings in the region. According to Taiwan earthquake monitoring agency, the magnitude of the quake was around 7.2, while the US Geological Survey estimated it to be 7.5.

Several people have been trapped under the debris of collapsed buildings as visuals on social media showed rescue work being carried out to pull out people to safety.

There has been no immediate number of deaths, however, it is expected that there will be loss of lives and many injured people.
