Imran Khan suggests dialogue to resolve India-Pakistan tension

Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan

Islamabad : Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan has reportedly written a letter to his Indian counterpart Narendra Modi suggesting a dialogue to resolve the tension between India and Pakistan.

According to media reports, it has been learned that the letter has come as a response to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's message to Imran Khan on Pakistan National Day on March 23. Indian PM had said that it was time for the people of the subcontinent to work for a progressive, democratic and prosperous region in “an atmosphere free of terror and violence”.

Though Imran Khan has given a fresh proposal for talks, India's stand is loud and clear that they are not engaging in any kind of dialogues with Pakistan till they take a stringent action against terrorism prevailing in their boundaries.

“Khan has reiterated Pakistan’s position but India’s stand on dialogue resumption is well known. It’s unlikely that any new government will rush headlong into talks with Pakistan,” a source to a leading daily said.

Meanwhile, leaders from India and Pakistan are likely to come face-to-face during the SCO summit in Kyrgyzstan. The new Indian government will also wait and see how Pakistan implements the ban imposed by the UN on global terrorist Masood Azhar.
