Japan PM Fumio Kishida makes narrow escape in smoke bomb attack

New Delhi : Japan's Prime Minister Fumio Kishida was caught in a blast during a meeting. As PM Kishida was delivering his speech, an explosion occurred simultaneously from a smoke bomb. The security personnel safely escorted the Prime Minister out of the scene. The police have arrested one person from the site, according to The Japan Times.

The blast occurred just before Prime Minister Kishida was about to start his speech in Wakayama City. After the smoke bomb was thrown, the area became smoky. Videos of the incident clearly show people gathered at the scene running for safety. Meanwhile, security forces apprehended a person.



After the blast in the meeting, PM Kishida narrowly escaped. It is reported that he was there to deliver a speech in support of a candidate from the ruling Liberal Democratic Party.
